Campaign Story
In an endeavor to uplift the tribal children in Omkareshwar (MP), a school was established in the year 2001 by Sri Ma Anandmayee Trust. It is mainly for Adivasi (tribal( children below the poverty line, in an area where there is very little employment for their parents, Suitable buildings and facilities were provided by the Trust.
Due to the current situation in the world, the Trust is unable to provide sufficient support to maintain the school. This fundraising campaign aims to cover the cost of providing free education for the 220 children, which includes maintenance, uniforms, food, and staff salaries. The current annual amount needed is estimated to be US$14,000.
Infrastructure: This comprises twelve classrooms, one office, two halls, and a playground. At present, the 220 students are divided into classes ranging from Kindergarten to 8th Standard. Unfortunately, lack of funds forced the closure of 9th and 10th Standard classes with a consequent loss of 80 of the elder children.
The school is adjacent to the Anandmayee Ma Ashram, which is doing all it can to utilize its facilities to assist the school. But, so that we can continue to maintain the services we are offering to the local community on Omkareshwar Island, we badly need further financial support.
